Prado Equestrian Center was founded in 1976 as Prado Park Stables. With only 7 boarded horses and one small arena, it was purchased by Carol Serpa in 1986, and over the following 15 years was built up to a beautiful and enjoyable facility with all the amenities.
By 2000, the ranch boasted 120 boarded horses, twelve rental horses, a fully stocked tack store, and five arenas, three of which were lighted for nighttime use. Activities included regularly scheduled horse shows, children’s day camp, and trail riding events. In addition, under Carol’s management, over $40,000.00 was raised for local charities.
In 2001, the ranch was organized as an LLC (Limited Liability Corporation) and day-to-day operations were turned over to a new General Manager. Unfortunately, over the next 10 years, the stable slowly deteriorated and business wound down entirely.
In 2011, Carol decided to step back into the position of General Manager and re-build Prado. Since re-joining the team, Prado is quickly resuming its status as one of the best equestrian facilities in California.
Prado Equestrian Center presently has facilities to house over 100 horses plus all the amenities desired by any horse enthusiast.
In 2006, Carol (under her pen name Carol Denbow), wrote a book about her first experiences with her purchase and operation of the ranch titled, Are You Ready to Be Your Own Boss?
